Braking methods for three-phase asynchronous motors

The braking methods for three-phase asynchronous motors mainly include the following:

‌Energy consumption braking‌

This method consumes the mechanical energy of the motor by converting it into heat or other forms of energy. Energy consumption braking devices, braking resistors and electromagnetic brakes are commonly used energy consumption braking devices.

‌Reverse braking‌

The motor generates torque in the opposite direction of the original rotation direction by changing the power phase sequence of the motor, thereby achieving rapid stopping. This method has a large braking torque, but consumes a lot of energy.

‌Regenerative braking‌

In some cases, the motor can feed the generated electrical energy back to the grid through the inverter to achieve energy recovery. This method requires special inverter support.

These braking methods have their own advantages and disadvantages and are suitable for different application scenarios. Energy consumption braking is suitable for occasions with few braking times and low energy requirements; reverse braking is suitable for occasions where rapid stopping is required, but the energy consumption is large; regenerative braking is suitable for systems that can recover energy.
