What Is the Structure of a Gear Pump?

As a fluid transmission equipment, the gear pump is composed of multiple core components to achieve efficient and stable liquid transportation:

1. Gear: As the heart part of the gear pump, the gear is usually made of wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant materials such as carbide or high-strength steel. Through precise meshing and rotational motion, they form a continuous liquid channel in the pump body to achieve suction, compression and discharge of liquid. The design parameters of the gear, such as tooth shape, number of teeth and module, directly determine the flow, pressure and operating efficiency of the pump.

2. Shaft: The shaft is the key component that connects the gear and the driving device (such as a motor or engine). It carries the rotational force of the gear and converts this rotational force into the transmission power of the liquid. The strength and stability of the shaft are critical to ensuring stable operation of the gear pump.

3. Pump body: The pump body is the main structure of the gear pump and is usually made of strong and corrosion-resistant materials such as cast iron, stainless steel or lightweight aluminum alloy. The inside of the pump body provides space for the gears and at the same time bears the pressure generated by the pump during its operation. The design of the pump body must not only ensure sufficient strength and sealing, but also facilitate repair and maintenance.

4. Seals: In order to prevent liquid leakage and external impurities from entering the inside of the pump, gear pumps are also equipped with various seals, such as gaskets, sealing rings, etc. These seals ensure the efficiency and safety of the pump during operation.

In addition to the above main components, depending on the needs of the actual application, the gear pump may also include other auxiliary components, such as bearings and bearing sleeves to improve the stability of the shaft, pump covers to facilitate inspection and maintenance, and inlet and outlet pipes to connect the pump and piping systems. , cooling system to prevent the pump from overheating, filters to filter impurities in the liquid, and valves to control the flow and pressure of the liquid, etc.
